So I picked my subjects for year 11 and 12 today and I chose literature but I can still switch to ATAR english.

Can anyone who's done it tell me what the course requires? Like how hard is it and how much time does it take up?

Thanks :)

I'm doing Y12 lit currently. Basically it is a lot of essay writing. The English ATAR exam is 3 sections: responding (essay), comprehending (three short answers) and composing. A lit exam however is just writing 3 essays (one on an unseen text, and the other two essays on unseen questions, but texts you've learnt about). Lit is a lot of reading a text, analysing quotes, memorising quotes, and then writing essays and close readings on them. If that's the sort of stuff you enjoy, go for it! It can actually be quite fun! But if that's not really your style, maybe consider english ATAR.
The only homework we really got was analysing quotes and writing practise paragraphs. The course is more about practising writing stuff rather than memorising any content.
    Hope this helps! :)
